Yesterday, the Mt. Kisco Recreation Department reached out to the Mt. Kisco Fire Department for help improving ice conditions on Leonard Park Pond for skating. Members from Station #3 Independent Fire Co. #13 , with assistance from Bedford Hills Fire Department Bedford Hills Fire Department (Tanker 5) and Katonah Fire Department Katonah Fire Department (Tanker 6), answered the call.

It's been almost a week since the 12+ inch snowstorm. Many fire hydrants in town are still buried and hard to find.
In an emergency, every second countsβdigging out a hydrant ahead of time can save critical minutes and help firefighters protect lives and property. If you see a hydrant near your home, please take a few minutes to clear snow and ice around it (about 3 feet on all sides).

Mutual Aid to Bedford Village
Independent Fire Co. #13, December 12
.. At 5:49am this morning, Station #3 was dispatched for an engine and FAST Team to respond to a working fire on Old Post Rd in Bedford Village. Engine 105 & 106 responded to the 2nd alarm fire at the Northwind Kennels. Engine 105 & 106 were utilize to assist with water supply while MKFD firefighters assisted with extinguishing the fire and rescuing dogs from the fire building. MKFD units cleared ... Working Structure Fire on Carpenter Ave.
Independent Fire Co. #13, December 12
On December 10th at 10:28am The MKFD was dispatched to Carpenter Ave for a reported structure fire. First arriving units encountered heavy smoke from the 2nd floor. A 10-75 was transmitted. Both Engine 105 & 106 responded from Station #3. An aggressive interior fire attack by MKFD firefighters kept the fire contained to one room. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Background:
The Independent Fire Company is an all-volunteer fire company with approximately 65 members. The company is one of four that make up the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department. The other three companies are the Union Hook & Ladder Co #1, the Mutual Engine & Hose Co #1 and the Mount Kisco Rescue & Fire Police.
The Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department covers approximately 3 square miles, half of which in the Town / Village of Mount Kisco proper, and the other half is made up of sections of the Town of New Castle and the Town of Bedford. The M.K.F.D. protects a population of approximately 18,000 people.
