Trail Rescue Deep in the Woods of Leonard Park
Independent Fire Co. #13, July 17
On July 17th at 3:02 PM, the Mt. Kisco Fire Department was dispatched to Leonard Park to assist Mt. Kisco EMS and WCPD with a medical rescue.The patient was located on a trail deep in the woods behind the baseball fields. Engine 106, Utility 13, and additional MKFD apparatus responded. Crews utilized MA51 to extricate the individual from the woods and safely transfer her to the awaiting ambulance.... (Full Story & Photos)

Yesterday, the Mt. Kisco Recreation Department reached out to the Mt. Kisco Fire Department for help improving ice conditions on Leonard Park Pond for skating. Members from Station #3 Independent Fire Co. #13 , with assistance from Bedford Hills Fire Department Bedford Hills Fire Department (Tanker 5) and Katonah Fire Department Katonah Fire Department (Tanker 6), answered the call.

Background:
The Independent Fire Company is an all-volunteer fire company with approximately 65 members. The company is one of four that make up the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department. The other three companies are the Union Hook & Ladder Co #1, the Mutual Engine & Hose Co #1 and the Mount Kisco Rescue & Fire Police.
The Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department covers approximately 3 square miles, half of which in the Town / Village of Mount Kisco proper, and the other half is made up of sections of the Town of New Castle and the Town of Bedford. The M.K.F.D. protects a population of approximately 18,000 people.
