2020 Refuses to Go Out Quietly - New Year's Eve Stubburn Tire Fire
By Ex-Captain Eric Hartmann
December 31, 2020
At 8:53 PM on New Year's Eve the Mt. Kisco Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to North Bedford Road for a report of tires on fire next to a structure. First arriving units found a 40ft trailer full of used tires on fire. The trailer was located within feet of a 2 story commercial structure. A working fire was transmitted (10-75). The Bedford Hills, Katonah, Yorktown and Ossining Fire Departments assisted at the scene of the fire of the stubborn fire.
Westchester County was also on scene with Haz-mat Team, Foam Trailer and Cause & Origin Team.
The Chappaqua and Pleasantville Fire Department provided station coverage for Mt. Kisco while the incident was occurring.
The structure sustained very minor fire damage, but the trailer was a total loss.
