On Wednesday July 29th Jr. Corp. members from the Mount Kisco Fire Department: Alex Elavumkal -UHL Co. Daniel Rubin -IFCO and James Tipa Jr. -IFCO graduated from their Fire Fighter Essentials class at the County Fire Training Center in Valhalla. The graduation started by the county this year was the first to be held for a fire fighter essentials class. The essentials class was an 86 hour course which ran from July 6th-10th and 13th-17th. During the two week program Jr. Corp. fire fighters and new members to departments from all over the county learned the basics of being a fire fighter. The course teaches students about engine company operations, ladder company operations, hazmat operations and other fire fighting tasks. The instructors who are paid firemen from local city fire departments were very knowledgeable and worked very closely with the students throughout the class. During the class instructors asked local departments to bring their apparatus to the training center for the training evolutions which involved car fires, building fires, and ladder operations. During the class Engine 105 (operated by George Rubin Jr.) and Ladder 43 (operated by Chief Al Bueti) came to the training center and provided resources and knowledge to the class. Congratulations to these new fire fighters and thanks to all that helped train and prepare them for their fire fighting essentials.
