Peter W. Hughes (1931- 2021)

Peter W. Hughes, a lifelong resident of Mount Kisco, died peacefully at home on February 22, 2021. Peter was born on July 5, 1931 to the late Victor A. and Ann Finnegan Hughes. He married his wife Frances Didio on May 23, 1959. Peter is survived by his children Roseann Hagen (John), Peter (Patty), Andrew, and David (Jennifer). He is survived by his grandchildren Peter Hagen (Jody), Cathy DiRienzo (Dave) & Elizabeth Hagen. He is also survived by his twin Brother Paul J. Hughes, Lauren, Jackie & Brenna Hughes, Kayla, and Tanner More and great grandchildren Eric, Mikayla and Ryan Hagen and Julianna and Dominic DiRienzo. Peter was predeceased by his wife Frances, sister Mary Arbitrio and brother, David Hughes. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Peter spent 39 years working for New York Telephone and retired in 1989. He was a 69 year Member of the Independent Fire Company holding the rank of Captain and President. He was Chief of the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department from 1982-1984. He was also a member of the Westchester County Fireman’s Association, the New York State Chief’s Association, Westchester County Parade Judges and was a 66 year member of the American Legion Post 136 in Mt. Kisco. Pete also coached Mt. Kisco Little League Football.

The family will receive friends at the Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home in Mt. Kisco on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Frances Church in Mt. Kisco. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Independent Fire Company, 322 Lexington Ave, Mt. Kisco, NY 10549 or Moses Taylor Jr. Post 136 American Legion, PO Box 136, Mt. Kisco, NY 10549.
