On Thursday September 17th The Westchester County Volunteer Firefighters Association, awarded Assistant Chief David J. Hughes and Captain Thomas Comito, Jr. Firefighter Of The Year. The award was due to their efforts at a structure fire August 12, 2015, 540 Main Street Mount Kisco, NY

While entering a structure fire, Assistant Chief David J. Hughes and Captain Thomas Comito, Jr. being faced with hazardous conditions, and while performing search and rescue. They located one trapped victim on the second floor and removed her from the structure. For their actions that day, it is with great honor that we award Assistant Chief David J. Hughes and Captain Thomas Comito, Jr. WCVFA Fire Fighter of The Year. All Chiefs, officers and family members were in attendance. Assistant Chief David J. Hughes and Captain Thomas Comito, Jr. were also honored by being in the escort division, this during the convention parade in Buchanan, NY.
