At approximately 9:30pm, Medic 1 (45M1) was responding to a call in Chappaqua from Armonk when we came upon a single car accident on Route 128 in New Castle. It appeared the driver encountered some black ice, lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree with the front driver side of her car. The Medic found the female driver semi-conscious and trapped in her Subaru Forester. He contacted 60 Control and requested the Fire Department for extrication and EMS. Engine 106, U-13 and Rescue 15 took in the run, Armonk's Rescue 85 was also requested to respond. Responding apparatus found the roadways to be extremely icy in spots. Armonk's Rescue 85 was first due to the scene. They lite up the area and got ready to begin extrication. The crew from Engine 106 stretched a precautionary line and assisted in stabilizing the vehicle. The female driver was extricated and transported ALS to Westchester Medical Center via Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
