Just after 3:00 AM on the cold morning of December 27th, Banksville Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Hobby Farm Drive. 2581 (Chief Farquhar) transmitted the 10-75 a special call for Greenwich Engine 8 and Bedford Hills Tower Ladder 57 into the scene due to the heavy volume of fire on arrival. U-13 was dispatched as the FAST Team. Crews attempted an interior attack but where unsuccessful due to rapidly deteriorating conditions. Crews then set up a exterior attack with numerous master streams in operation. A nursing operation was set up with the Tankers while Engine 157 laid approximately 2000 feet of large diameter hose to a dry hydrant off of Banksville Avenue. Engine 106 was relocated to Banksville station. Due to the cold weather, a rehab unit from Somers Fire Department was requested to the scene to assist with warming of the firefighters. The ice was a major concern, fortunately there where no injuries. Firefighter where on the scene for approximately 8 hours.
