On July 26, the Independent Fire Company, along with the Mount Kisco Fire Department took part in Bedford Fire Department's annual parade. Engine 105 (Truck 9) has served the Independent Fire Co. for the last 24 years. In those years, it has won many awards, as well as seen a lot of fire. Engine 105 is a very well known truck, and one of the last of its kind (open cab). It has forever been the pride of the Independent Fire Co.
The parade was attended by 22 I.F.CO. members. The Department had over 40 people in line. The Engine was driven in its last parade by Ex-Captain George Rubin Jr., the Chairman of the 1989 Apparatus Committee, riding the officer seat to the parade was Captain Chris Ross, Peter Hughes Sr. rode in the officers seat during the parade. It was a very proud moment for the Company to see Engine 105 take home the Best Engine Over 20 years trophy. There is no better way to end 24 prosperous years, than by taking home a trophy. Engine 105 is slated to go out of service for good on Monday July 29th. It is bittersweet for the members to see Engine 105 go, we hope people will be just as proud of the new Engine.
