On the evening of Friday January 11th the Mount Kisco FD was dispatched to a possible structure fire in a farm house at the Yeshiva complex. The homeowners were home at the time and discovered the fire when a family member went upstairs and encountered heavy smoke on the second floor. When units first arrived the homeowners had self-evacuated and firefighters were presented with a heavy smoke condition within the two story wood frame home. The 10-75 (Working Fire) signal was transmitted by Chief Tom Jackson (Car 2281) due to no nearby hydrants in the area. Mount Kisco FD quickly stretched two hand lines and found the fire in a bedroom after navigating through the tight hallways and cramped rooms of the old farm house. Mutual aid departments responded with tankers to provide a water source for fire operations.

Mount Kisco FD made a quick knockdown within 15 minutes and made a great save of the home. Westchester County Cause & Origin are investigating the cause of the fire but do not find it suspicious. This fire makes the third fire Mount Kisco has responded to in just over a week. 2013 has started off with a busy year for the fire departments of Northern Westchester.
