| On Friday November 9th, the Kindergarden class of Rippowam Cisqua School boarded a bus and took a field trip to the Independent Fire Company. The children were met by many members of I.F.CO. due to a crew returning from a fire call at the approximate arrival of the class. The children were met by Captain Ross, Ex-Captain David Hughes, FF Alexander and Engineer Ray Zaccari. Ex-Captain Hughes and Engineer Zaccari assisted the children in donning a turnout coat and helmet. Engineer Zaccari then instructed the children in the importance of fire safety as well as some of the tools used by fire fighters. The children climbed aboard Engine 105 and U-13 to see where the Fire Fighters ride to calls and store their airpacks and other equipment. Finally, the children were able to view I.F.CO.'s antique hose cart. Thank you for the visit RCS! |
