IFCO Member recieves NWVFA Scholarship
By Firefighter James Tipa, Jr
June 21, 2010
On Monday June 21st Assistant Engineer Daniel Rubin received a scholarship from the NWVFA (Northern Westchester Volunteer Fireman's Association). Firefighters that recently graduated from high school and will be going on to college can apply for the scholarship. The NWVFA looks for firefighters from local Northern Westchester departments that are active firefighters and members of their department's. Firefighters hand in their application which includes an essay explaining how the fire department has touched the applicants life and what it means to the applicant to be a firefighter in his/her community. Each of the four recipients this year received a $500 scholarship from the NWVFA. The awards were presented at the Yorktown Heights Fire Department and presented by NWVFA President John Lempke. This coming fall Daniel will be attending the University of New Haven in Connecticut for a degree in fire science. The members of IFCO wish to congratulate Daniel on being awarded the NWVFA Scholarship and wish him good luck in his future endeavors.
