- The Swarm was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle fire on Smith Ave near Main St. Units arriving on the scene find a Ford Transit Van on fire. Structure Fire St. Mark's Place
APRIL 29
- On Sunday, April 29th at 10:54 am, the MKVFD was dispatched to a unknown type fire at 32 St. Mark's Place. Car 2284 was the first to arrive on scene and immediatley declared a 10-75 for this alarm. Car 2281 arrived and began size up and directing apparatus placement and crews. - On Thursday April 12th, after 6 years as Assistant Chief, Tom Jackson was installed as the Chief of the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department. Tom's father Bill Jackson presented Tom with his Chief's credentials. Tom follows in the boot steps of many Independents to hold the rank of Chief. - On Tuesday, April 3rd, the installation of officers for the Independent Fire Company was held. Outgoing Captain Jan Johannessen presented newly elected Captain Chris Ross with his Captain's credentials. Capt. Mutual Aid to Chappaqua
APRIL 24
- On Saturday, April 21st, at 20:31, the Independents were dispatched mutual aid to Chappaqua for a structure fire at 15 Ivy Hill Drive. Upon arrival, we were met with a fully involved semi-detached garage fire. Engine 105 went up the driveway and stretched 2- 3" lines, 1- 2 1/2" line and put deck gun into operation to knock down the fire. Chappaqua's Engine 144 laid a supply line up the driveway ... Background:
The Independent Fire Company is an all-volunteer fire company with approximately 65 members. The company is one of four that make up the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department. The other three companies are the Union Hook & Ladder Co #1 (www.hooks14.com), Mutual Engine & Hose Co #1 and the Mount Kisco Rescue & Fire Police.
The Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department covers approximately 3 square miles, half of which in the Town / Village of Mount Kisco proper, and the other half is made up of sections of the Town of New Castle and the Town of Bedford. The M.K.F.D. protects a population of approximately 18,000 people.
